I found this fun book survey at The Daily Prophecy and saw a couple other bloggers doing this survey as well and thought to myself, Hm...this seems fun. Why not give it a whirl? Basically, the Fairytale Survey is a book quiz with questions phrased in a fairytale theme. And as you know, I love reading fairytale mashups and remixes!
PART 1. CLASSIC PRINCESSES
Is there are book you lie about, because you feel ashamed for liking it?
Currently, no. I am not ashamed of the books I read. However, I will admit that when I was in elementary school I didn't want anybody to know that I loved reading fantasy books and often pretended I was interested in any type of books but fantasy!
Beauty and the beast – The girl who fell in love with personality.
Which book do you love that has a hideous cover?
Definitely the book My Most Excellent Year. This book was actually given to me as a gift and I put off reading it for a long time because I simply didn't find the cover attractive. It is one of my all time favorite books now!
Snow white – Hunted down for her beauty.
Do you ever buy a book based on the cover alone and if so, what is the last one?
Gosh, I'm so guilty of this (bad) habit! The last book I bought because I liked the cover is Incarceron.
Sleeping beauty – Cursed to sleep, awakened by true loves kiss.
What is your favorite book couple?
Day and June from Legend! More specifically, I love their relationship in Prodigy.
Little Mermaid – Gave up on her old life for love.
Do you ever branch out to new genres or do you like to stick with the ones you know and love? If you try new things out, what is the latest book?
I tend to stick genres I'm familiar with...but then again I have quite an eclectic taste. However, recently I did read a book that is definitely out of my usual comfort zone called Wedding Chronicles.
Cinderella – Who lost her shoe after midnight.
What is the last book that made you stay up all night?
The last book that made me stay up all night...I'm going to define all night as to up until midnight. Divergent would be the book (though I'm still not done with the book, but it did keep me up quite late.)
Rapunzel – locked up in a tower.
What is the worst books you’ve read last month?
Oh, boy. I hope my English teacher doesn't find this blog post because the answer is A Farewell to Arms. Okay, so it's not nearly as bad as some of the school assigned books (*cough cough* Scarlet Letter), but I loathed the main character at least in the beginning. Towards the end of the novel he was barely tolerable to me. Nuff said.
PART 2. MIX-MATCH
What is the latest book treasure/gem you found?
For me, Drowned Cities takes the prize. I had started this book last summer but never got past the first few chapters and eventually forgot about it. A few weeks ago I picked it up and devoured it in two day!
Alice in Wonderland – The girl who fell through a rabbit’s hole.
Which book made you really feel like you landed in another world?
Harry Potter all the way! And Legend! And Eragon!
East of the sun and west of the moon – where a girl embarks on a journey to save her love.
Who is one of your favorite kick-ass heroines?
June from Legend. She's the most kick-ass heroine. Period.
The Frog Prince – where an enchanted prince becomes human again.
What is a book you thought you would hate, but end up loving?
I know I mentioned this before already, but it bears worth repeating: My Most Excellent Year.
Hansel and Gretel – left alone in the woods and captured by a witch.
Which duo (sister/sister, brother/sister) is your favorite and why?
Wow...there aren't many sibling pairs that I can think of. I guess I will have to go with the siblings from A Tale Dark and Grimm, which is actually loosely based on Hansel and Gretel.
Little Red Riding Hood – almost eaten by a wolf dressed as her grandmother.
What book disappointed you after falling in love with the cover and blurb?
I'm sad to say I had such high expectations for The Throne of Glass that I was oh-so-very disappointed when I did not enjoy the main character's personality at all. Loved the plot though!
Rumpelstilskin – nobody knows his name.
Which book do you love that doesn’t get enough attention?
There are so many great books out there that deserve more attention! But if I had to choose one and only one, it would be Shipbreaker.
Well, that's all for today! Feel free to leave some comments below and share your thoughts--I always try my best to reply!
