Title: Allegiant
Author: Veronica Roth
Genre: YA dystopian
Book Blurb:
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.
But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.
Review:
Let me tell you a story. There once was a girl named Tina who picked up a book called Divergent and fell in love with it. She then read Insurgent and thought it was okay. She kind of forgets about the series until Allegiant was released in the winter of 2013. Everybody started buzzing about the unexpected ending to Allegiant so Tina decides to read it...but first she had to reread Insurgent because she basically forgot about what happened in it. It turns out that she enjoyed reading Insurgent a second time a lot more than the first. Now it's June, 2014, and Tina has just finished Allegiant. She thought it was okay...and is now writing a review for it.

I loved Divergent because there was so much action!
But in Allegiant, I feel like a large part of the novel was about putting in perspective how the faction system was only an "experiment" and that a whole other world existed outside of the city and that there are GPs and GDs--aka, info dumping. I desperately wished there was some action scenes to spice up all of these revelations Tris is having because....well, I got bored to be frank. (BTW, I'm going off track here--but when I take notes for school I abbreviate a lot so whenever I saw GD I thought "Great Depression" and GP I thought "genetic potential"...it was a bit distracting, lol)
Also, did anyone else think that when Tris and Four weren't arguing, they were making out like, every two minutes??? The overbearing focus on their relationship reminded me that of Rebel's. I loved their sweet relationship in the first two books, but now I'm like Eek! Enough already! Please focus on saving the world!
Alright, enough said about the negatives and let's move onto the positives. I really enjoyed the dual POV Roth takes on the novel with--it offered some nice insight regard what's going on inside Four's mind. Is it bad that I found the ending refreshing? ***Spoiler Alert--not that there's much to spoil considering everyone knows how Allegiant ends unless you've been living under a rock*** There are way too many predictable endings out there...okay, maybe that's too broad of a term. Let me rephrase that sentence: 99% of the time, the main character lives. Even in Farewell to Arms , a rather depressing book where like, everyone dies, the main character still lives. So it definitely threw me off when my friends told me Tris dies at the end.
Final thoughts? Loved Divergent and enjoyed Insurgent as well. Am I glad that I read Allegiant? Yes. But I probably won't reread it.
