SUTTER KEELY. He’s the guy you want at your party. He’ll get everyone dancing. He’ll get everyone in your parents’ pool. Okay, so he’s not exactly a shining academic star. He has no plans for college and will probably end up folding men’s shirts for a living. But there are plenty of ladies in town, and with the help of Dean Martin and Seagram’s V.O., life’s pretty fabuloso, actually.
Until he meets Aimee. Aimee’s clueless. and a social disaster. Aimee needs help, and it’s up to the Sutterman to show Aimee a splendiferous time . But Aimee’s not like other girls, and before long he’s in way over his head. For the first time in his life, he has the power to make a difference in someone else’s life—or ruin it forever.
Review:
What first drew my attention to this story was Shailene Woodley. She was one of my favorite actresses and I decided to check out the trailer. While the story lines differ, the theme and background reminded me of The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. So I gave it a go. After the first few pages I knew this would be a novel I would enjoy. The beginning was perfect for this novel. It allowed you to see what Sutter was normally like. That was until he met Aimee. Enter the nerd girl, the nobody who was heading on the all A's track to NASA.Aimee just landed in Sutter's life exactly like he landed into her yard hungover and recently dumped. Sweet ,naive ,and innocent Aimee fell for Sutter. He transformed her. While reading through this I realized how he changed her life. The book had me laughing by their experiences and realizing what truth it had. The end of the novel ,thats what disappointed me. Sutter turned his back on Aimee. While I was expecting a happily ever after, the last page just consisted of Sutter back to being normal Sutter. Having no remorse of how he was going to break Aimee, he continued his drinking. What love story ends like this?!? Tim Tharp has written a novel that while appeals to the young adult readers also portrays the truth of reality.
Apparently in reality this stuff happens. Guys are jerks and the rest are fiction and in-between there's decent guys. I really should stick my head out of my book to see what reality is like then I think better not. So over all this book deserves.......
I think this book deserves four stars because it had a good story that kept me engaged. It had the perfect love story. While I was disappointed by the end ,it wasn't what I was expecting and it seemed like thats what would really happen. The author didn't lie to us. I liked that because I am used to love stories ending in a good way. The reason why I eliminated a star is the unfinished-ness. The ending left ties everywhere. I recommend this one to anyone who has read the following: Love Rosie, The Perks Of Being a Wallflower , Looking For Alaska, and This is What Happy Looks Like.
