I loved this book to death...simply because how true this book is. The characters and situations and actions are oh so very real. I'm sure that many booknerds out there can all relate to Cather (main character) one way or another.
Cather and her twin sister, Wren, are finally in college. Wren can't wait to become independent and live life to the fullest. Cather is more conservative; she's isn't quite ready to let go of her past. I loved the contrast between these two sisters and the tension depicted between them (Wren wanting more independence from Cather) is nicely done.
I think Cather is a very honest character. And what I mean by that is that Cather is a character that is very quirky, but believable. She has her own flaws, but you just can't help but root for her the whole time. Oh, and did I mention Cather is a huge fan fiction writer? Like one of the biggest ones out there? (Although I don't really read fan fic, I do know what it is, which helped me understand this novel.) All Cather wants to do is write Simon Snow fan fic....even if this means failing her writing class. For her, writing fan fic is a way to escape reality and to cope with her problems. But she needs to learn to let go of the past.
