Chocolate Book Tag

A big shout out to Sofia from Loving the Language of Literacy for tagging me! This was such a fun book tag (I mean seriously--chocolate?? I'm in!) I'm not going to delay this any further..so let's get started!

Dark Chocolate: A book the covers a dark topic
Okay, so this book has a fantasy element to it, but it deals with some pretty dark topics--particularly the main character. The main character is pretty messed up due to his scarring childhood. In a different world, he might've been a nice, young man. But having been scorned upon his whole life, he grows up to be bitter and cynical. Nevertheless, this was such a gripping read and I finished this book in one sitting, staying up into the wee hours of morning.

White Chocolate: Your favorite humorous read
I was torn between choosing My Most Excellent Year or The Lightning Thief as I hold both books very dear to my heart. I've reread both books more times than I can remember, and know that I can always depend on them to cheer me up if I'm having a down day. My Most Excellent Year is a heart warming tale that involves a wannabe baseball star, a gay-but-doesn't-realize-he-is-gay best friend, and the daughter of some government rep (who has her own secret service agent). Oh, and also a charming, little deaf kid who brings all three characters and teaches them that magic can be found in everywhere, if you only look for it.

Milk Chocolate: A book with a lot of hype that you're dying to read
I've heard raving reviews for this series--both the books and the film. I finally started reading it a few nights ago (whew--there's a whole slew of characters to keep track of!) and am on page 43. Unfortunately, I had to return the book today since somebody has placed the book on hold at the library. I plan on finishing it asap though, as I've put the book on hold once more.

Chocolate with Caramel in the Center: A book that makes you feel all gooey in the middle while reading
Oh jeez...the Seven Realms series is definitely on  my top 10 list. I love both Han and Raisa. The Exiled Queen is probably by favorite book in the series, as this is when Han and Raisa actually meet and interact with each other. This book has just the right blend of action and romance...*sighs*

Wafer Free Kit-Kat:  Name a book that surprised you recently
I wish I could say that this was a pleasant surprise, but it wasn't--though it might have been partially my fault.  I think that I'd hyped myself up too much for Rebel that I had set my expectations very high, since I absolutely loved Reboot. Bottom line: Rebel fell short of my expectations.

Snickers: A book you are going nuts about
Ahhh!!! Want. This. Book. Now. Why do I have to wait until October??? That's so far away!!! Guess I'll have to content myself with the teasers right now.

Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows: A book you turn for a comfort read
Hmm...there are soooo many books that I could've picked: Legend, My Most Excellent Year, Frindle, Hoot...I ended up settling with Harry Potter because it's a book readers of all ages can enjoy, anywhere and anytime. Fun fact: I received the first Harry Potter book in 3rd grade as a birthday gift and refused to touch it for a solid 3 months (don't know why.) Then it took me five tries to get past the first couple of chapters because I couldn't wrap my brain around what was happening. When I finally managed to finish the book, younger Tina had found a new series to fall in love with.

Box of Chocolate: What series/book have you read that you think has a little something for everyone in it?
Oh wow...this is a really tough one! There's such a huge diversity of genres out there...I guess Ship Breaker is a book 90% of the people I know who would find interesting at the very least. It's often referred as a classic "dystopian", but is really much more than that.  Although set in a futuristic world, the novel explores what it means to have a choice that tests one's morals.

I would like to tag Becky from Beckie's Book and Aly from Reading Shy for this book tag!
